Wait for Hope to Appear

Leaving the house behind I turn my face into the blustery winds, crisp with the promise of fall, sharp with urgency; willing the force of cold to burrow through my mind and sweep out every shred of worry clinging in the corners. I whisper to myself with kindness, “Breath deeply”, wanting to hasten the air’s cleansing properties through my heart and lungs . Fall’s shifting nature spills a brief shower of rain in the midst of the afternoon’s shining light. I step under dense, overhanging trees until the weeping cloud drifts on. Walking on, step following step, breath following breath easing the mind to emptiness, working the chest to fullness, purposefully leaving space for holy presence and peace. 

A Collection of Love

I went searching for this photo where the winter rains spilled over the last blooms of the rose hedge. Dripping wet shades of love, still valiant despite the advancing season. Rosy petals to illustrate our Lord's love. Then a further search for heart swelling, love spreading, holy words ... lead to more holy words, ... and more still.

A Collection of Love

We love him, because he first loved us. 1John 4:19

This is my commandment, That you love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:12

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 

1 Corinthians 13:4

And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us. Ephesians 5:2

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Galatians 5:6

 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 

1 Peter 4:8

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.1 John 4:18

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

You are precious in my eyes, you are honored, and I love you. Isaiah 43:4

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9

Keep the commandment ...of the Lord: to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to keep his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Joshua 22:5

God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:5

May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. 

Thessalonians 3:5

Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.” John 14:23

Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39
